It's finally starting to really feel like Fall and I'm looking for new candles and room fragrances to reflect the season's cozier mood. So, last weekend I headed over to my favorite fragrance emporium, Aedes de Venustas and discovered that after 20-plus years of being the secret jewelbox destination on Christopher Street in the West Village, it has recently moved around the corner to a much more prominent space at 7 Greenwich Avenue.
The new store has all the signature romantic design elements from the old location, including plush velvet floor length drapes, mega-sized crystal chandelier, lush floral arrangements, antique gold display vitrines & perfume bottles, all wrapped in deep burgundy walls and carpeting.
However, the real beauty of Aedes de Venustas is its far-flung collection of perfumes, skincare products and home fragrances; from some we're all familiar with like Kilian, Frédéric Malle, Annick Goutal, Cire Trudon and Diptyque to hard-to-find or lesser-known perfumers, including Jovoy, Nassomatto, Memo Paris and Mark Birley for Men. Aedes also collaborated with L'artisan Parfumeur to create a limited edition of candles and room sprays in their signature deep burgundy and gold packaging.
The quite wonderful Jose Osorio whose customer service can't be beat, patiently walked me through the various brands and after much back and forth I settled on a candle, Bohemia by Byredo Parfums, 34 Boulevard St Germain by Diptyque room spray and Aedes de Venustas room spray.
I'm all about one-stop shopping and well-regarded Aedes de Venustas is the way to shop for all things fragrance!
