Design for Living: Pantone Greenery 2017

Pantone Greenery 15-0343 has been named the official color of 2017 by The Pantone Color Institute, the self-described global color authority.  It's "a yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of Spring." Leatrice Eismann, the executive director at Pantone who heads the committee that annually chooses its color of the year, conveyed the meaning behind the shade, as "Greenery burst forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment."  I think we can all agree with that...

Based more on instinct than science, the Pantone team goes through an almost year-long process exploring various industries worldwide, collecting "proof points" to see which shades emerge most frequently.  Eventually one shade overrides all others and in this case it was leaf green.

In relation to fashion, Vanessa Friedman of the New York Times Fashion & Style section observed - "There was green on the runway for example poking around the Fall 2014 shows and building through Spring 2017, when brands like Balenciaga, Gucci, Michael Kors and Prada all featured it to varying extents." Runway photos below from the New York Times

Coincidentally, Greenery is the shade of my company logo and used as the highlighter in my blog posts. Seems I was ahead of the curve on this one!  Add some Pantone Greenery to your world...
