Design for Living: Brownstone Brooklyn Living

I came across an article on One Kings Lane recently about fellow Brooklynite, Jodi Patterson who lives in her perfect world with her husband and four kids.  Jodi is the owner and creative director of organic health and beauty products at GeorgiaNY and co-founder of Doo-Bop a multi cultural skin-care and hair-care destination.

Jodi and her family are comfortably situated in a brownstone built in the early 1900s that at one point housed a speakeasy in the basement.  The beautiful architectural details, original to the house remain in place due to the loving stewardship of the 90-year old lady who was the previous owner.  Historical features include the original stain glassed window on the parlor level, intricately carved wood fretwork on the staircase and the pair of arch frames dividing the living room.

Jodi and her husband, Joe made only critical renovations, including updating all electrical wiring and installing a new kitchen with the requisite marble counter.   Jodi conveys her very elegant relaxed personal style, decorating with contemporary furnishings, vibrant fabrics and pops of white paintwork.   The balance of history and modern living enables the house to retain its attractive formal details, while remaining comfortable and accessible for a young, growing family.  Nicely done...
