My blog’s been a no show the past couple of weeks because I’ve been busy creating a kitchen vignette with Bilotta Kitchen & Home. Along with Traditional Home and Replacements Ltd. Bilotta Kitchens is hosting its 8th annual Art of the Table event, giving 6 leading designers a permanently installed kitchen each in which to show off their design skills, creating distinctive and inspiring tablescapes.
I was assigned Bilotta’s Rutt Classic Kitchen, which I’ve long admired for its distinctive architectural lines and inviting powder blue palette. I chose to focus on the art in Art of the Table and once I had secured Herend’s timeless chinois china pattern it set the tone for my presentation. My dear friends Yvonne & Ron Parker, owners of Parker & Parker Art supplied several plaster sculptures from Yvonne’s fantasy Blanc de Blanc series, Ron’s hand painted Parker People plates and a Japanese lithograph, all of which contributed to transforming the space. There’s always something in particular that people gravitate to in interior design vignettes and in my kitchen the handpainted plates grabbed everyone’s attention!
de Le Cuona’s Meadow Spring paisley fabric trimmed with Samuel & Son’s grosgrain ribbon and tassels made by the H & A Upholstery workroom, the banquette’s luxe cushions also by de Le Cuona and the Chinois china service were the foundation of my table’s Asian aesthetic. Kim Seybert’s Trellis wood placemats and napkins nestled alongside L’objet’s Pave Sphere place-card holders, Garland napkin jewels and Pinecone Spice salt & pepper set brought the glitter and glamour. Ceci New York created the bespoke menu cards and place-cards inlaid with a paisley motif completed the elegant dining setting.
